satire:
A teenage hacker Identifying himself only as The FireShadow Phantom claims to have recently hacked the DNC computer servers using a waterhole attack (an attack initiated by taking over a high traffic source like a wifi hub.) Once Fireshadow got into the system he claims to have attacked various computers with DOS attacks (Denial of Service), giving users the blue screen of death, Crazy Num Caps virus (a virus that randomly toggles numbers lock, caps lock, and scroll lock on a computer), rotated desktop screens, phantom drive (a virus that makes cd/dvd drives open and close randomly and other pranks designed to annoy users. Just for fun he says that he bounced his signal off of a Russian IP address so that they would think that a Russian did it. According to Fireshadow more hacks may be coming at the DNC since the #DNCHackChallenge has become a thing. Hackers have been laughing at the claims by the FBI that they have determined the original hack was performed by Russians. Fireshadow claims that a good hacker knows how to cover their tracks by bouncing their signal off multiple IP addresses making them nearly impossible to track down.
Hacking has been problematic for computer systems since the very first computers came online, but now with various countries performing cyber warfare, criminals trying to steal data, and money, kids playing harmless cyber pranks like Fireshadow, and whistleblowers like anonymous. Hacking is an ever evolving and sophisticated operation.
