According to local news station NBC 25 in Flint Michigan state police have been searching for around 76 missing children that they believe are victims of a sex trafficking network. They found 51 of the missing children during a Genesee County police search. They believe that between 5 and 10 of the missing children may still be in the area and the search continues.
According to Nyse Hollomon of the Weiss Child Advocacy Center many of the children that they are finding are in a sad state. They are dirty, ill clothed, and malnourished.
It is probably safe to assume that some of them have been severely abused and raped repeatedly by their trafficker/pimp and his customers.

"Children exploited through prostitution report they typically are given a quota by their trafficker/pimp of 10 to 15 buyers per night Utilizing a conservative estimate, a domestic minor sex trafficking victim would be raped by 6,000 buyers during the course of her victimization through prostitution." – The National Report on Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking: America’s Prostituted Children, Shared Hope International, May 2009, page 20.

"The fact is human trafficking is happening right here, right now, in the United States, probably in any city where anybody lives. Just because you don’t know anything about it doesn’t mean it’s not happening." - Vicki Zito, Mother of Survivor
U.S. Statistics: Human trafficking exists all over the United States, but California is California is a hot spot for domestic and international human trafficking because of its large population, international borders, large economy, extensive ports, and metropolitan regions.
The average entry age of American minors into the sex trade is 12-14 years old. [1]
Many victims are runaway girls who have already suffered sexual abuse as children.
California harbors 3 of FBI’s 13 highest child sex trafficking areas in the nation: Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego. [2]
Foreign nationals are also brought into the U.S. as slaves for labor or commercial sex through force or fraud. [3]
The prevalence and anonymity of the internet has fueled the rapid growth of sex trafficking, making the trade of women and children easier than ever before.
This is one very important reason why we need to get control of our border. Many of the foreign nationals being brought across the border are not people trying to sneak in. They are victims of fraud or they have been kidnapped to be exploited for commercial sex or forced labor.
