According to a new study published in the New York Times Professors that self identify as Liberals out number those self identifying as conservative 12 to 1. That is only 8.3% of college professors nationwide, and the problem is only growing worse.
The study was performed by Econ Journal Watch, which interviewed 7,243 professors and looked at voter registrations from 40 different universities across the United States. They had some interesting finds. They discovered when breaking this up by age groups that there was a higher percentage conservatives among older academics, and also when they examined those that taught various fields of study like Mathematics, Engineering, and Economics there was a higher concentration of conservatives, and humanities classes have higher ratios of liberals.
It was also found that Ivy league schools have an even larger gap between liberal and conservative professors. Harvard University for examples has a 30:1 ratio of liberal vs. conservative or only 3% of their instructors identify as conservatives. This is a huge difference similar studies done in 1968 and in 2004 which demonstrates that the ratio of liberals to conservatives has grown significantly. Also given the differences found looking at the study by age as older academics retire the ratio will only grow farther apart.

Over the past few years their have been increasing incidents of discrimination against conservatives on college campuses. There have been many instances of conservatives discriminated against on campuses. Iowa University students attempted to start a Free Market nonprofit called Turning Point USA could not get their charter through the student government council. Cornell University also blocked the student led organization. Conservative speakers like Milo Yiannopoulos and Ann Coulter have been prevented from speaking on college campuses, which they were invited to by campuses. Often by student riots organized by the liberal professors.
Now we have evidence that campuses are discriminating in their hiring practices as well. While political affiliation is not a federally protected status, which is to say it is not included as part of the civil rights act of 1964, maybe it should be. It is protected in some states, which have made laws to prevent employees from being fired or retaliated against, because they refused to vote the way their employers insisted, at threat of their livelihood, or for participating in political activity like working for campaigns. So once again we see liberals exploited a loop hole in the Equal Opportunity Employment laws.
This is a danger to our country that needs to be addressed. Schools are becoming more and more about indoctrinating kids into agreeing with a political thought process instead of being taught critical thinking, logic, and reason so that they can decide for themselves. So call your congressman and senator and talk to them about adding political affiliation to the civil rights act. It is something that is long overdue.
Department of Justice Leaking to the media continues as they recently leaked a 20 page memo from the President's legal staff to the New York Times.
