Could Google Soon Be Facing Yet Another Class Action Lawsuit?

Updated: Apr 5, 2018

Google is arguably one of the most widely used search engines on the web and it is no secret that Google has recently targeted conservatives, gun owners, the NRA, and Christians with an algorithm that redirects searches away from their web pages and pertinent information. The problem with this is that it is restricting the trade of web based businesses over differences in politics, which is a violation of the Sherman anti trust act.

This historical law made in 1890, as well as other laws like the Clayton Act, and the Robinson-Patman Act have been used in many historical cases to reign in other large corporations that have abused their power in the past.

Now while prosecuting violators of these crimes may be the responsibility of the Federal Trade Commission. There is still the matter of damages that have been incurred by various businesses that are having their web traffic redirected. So could some of these web businesses that have lost much of their traffic thanks to these algorithms have a class action suit in the works? Only time will tell.

It wouldn't be the first time the media giant has been sued. They are currently facing a class action suit over their hiring practices.
