Five Countries That Are Polluting the World's Oceans

When assigning blame for the world's pollution problems left wing extremist like to blame the US. In my opinion that just doesn't make sense. The US may generate a lot of trash, but we are also leading the world in proper sanitation, recycling, and waste management.

Modern industrialized nations use landfills to contain their trash.

If you do a search for the nations that produce the most garbage what you will find is the a list of the top Industrialized nations. This is often a sticking point used by left wing extremists to blame all of the world's pollution problems on the United States since as you can see from the list below we are number one on the list.

Modern industrialized nations responsibly recycle and reuse tons of materials like plastics, metals, and glass.

Modern Industrialized nations use water treatment facilities to clean sewer water and return it back to the environment.

That can be a little misleading for two reasons. One is that is not a list adjusted by population per capita. So here is a list of the top 5 countries that produce the most garbage by population per capita.

Again that can be misleading, because all fifteen of the nations above use some method of sanitation and waste management to dispose of sewage and trash. I'm not saying that all of them are on par with the methods of sanitation and waste management utilized by industrialized nations, but they do try.

So when I am talking about nations that are polluting the world's oceans, rivers, and streams who am I talking about? The nations I am talking about simply do not care. They dump tons of garbage and chemicals right into their rivers and streams which get carried right into the ocean. It is a huge problem that is having a negative effect on the world's oceans, ecosystems, wildlife, and humanity; and I mean all of humanity.

In fact experts estimate that over 60% of the trash that winds up in the ocean comes from these five nations. Think about it, five nations that aren't even among the world's leaders in trash production are so neglectful with their sanitation and waste management that they are responsible for putting that much trash into the ocean.

So the question is what can be done to correct this incredibly irresponsible behavior? Perhaps in some cases education might be an answer. It is possible that some nations are doing this because they simply do not know any better. So if we reach out to them and educate them in modern methods it could go a long way to helping stop this from happening. In other cases like China for example, a solution may be more difficult to be found. Perhaps through diplomacy or economic sanctions China might be convinced to do more to fix their mismanagement.
