The Power of Names How Media Are Partially Responsible For School Shooting

Back in the days when media had some journalistic integrity they used to act like they had some common sense about what and how they reported things. For example when President Roosevelt was in office they avoided taking pictures of him being helped in and out of cars, that showed him using his crutches, or sitting in his wheel chair. Journalists used to have some respect for people and for our country, but I don't think that is the case anymore.

One can turn on a television almost daily to hear the visceral disrespect for police, the president, the flag, and for our country. The news today doesn't report anything unless it fits their liberal agenda, which means they under report or bury news that does not fit their agenda and they over report, put their own spin on, or just blatantly lie about news to make it fit their agenda.

CNN pushing the fake "hands up, don't shoot" news story which sparked protests all based on a lie.

Media has taken to demonizing heroic Americans like police officers. Do you remember when all the news had the "hands up, don't shoot" dialog going? That was a false narrative to demonize police officers by making them look like a bunch of rampaging racist maniacs that go around gunning down innocent African Americans with their hands up. It was all based on an event that never happened.

So then we get to the topic of school shootings. The news is more than happy to jump on those stories and automatically apply their spin that we need more gun control, but what about when a hero stops the school shooting from every happening?

Terry Brock heroically prevented a school shooting saving many lives.

Johnnie Langendorff stopped the criminal that shot up a church in Texas then chased him down.

Angela McQueen tackled a shooter that started to shoot at kids in the lunch room.

The truth is violent crimes are stopped every day by heroic people who you have never even heard of. Why? It is simple, it doesn't fit the news networks liberal agenda if a good person with a gun stops a crime from ever happening. They want to paint a picture that all police officers are maniacs and racists, while simultaneously making criminals like the Florida shooter famous by talking about him constantly on every channel.

That is why I say that the media is at least partially responsible for the rise in school shootings. They are giving these criminals exactly what they want, notoriety. Suddenly, they are infamous villains who will forever be remembered for their crimes. They spend weeks following up with the survivors, and the families of the victims. They stoke the gun control debate to a feverish pitch exploiting the trauma and grief for all it is worth.

Heroes on the other hand get a five minute mention on their local news station, never to be mentioned again. We don't get any interviews with the families they saved or hear about the child that grows up to become a doctor because a hero saved their life.

Frankly I think that it needs to be the other way around. If the news media really cared about people's lives they would stop making criminals famous and start making heroes famous. I'm not saying that they should not report on tragedies, but they could still do that without ever mentioning the name of the school shooter. Then when a hero stops a mass shooting they should make that person famous. We should learn about the people that were saved. We should see the awesome lives that they are leading because they got to live.
